Fort keeps everyone’s screen in sync during a watch party. To do that it needs your account, your display name, and whatever you type in party chat — and nothing else. This page is a plain description of exactly what it handles and where that data goes.

What Fort never collects. The browser extension does not read, record, or transmit your browsing history, the pages you visit, their addresses or titles, their contents, or what you are watching. It reads the page’s address only inside your own browser, to tell whether a supported streaming site is open, and that never leaves your device. Fort runs no analytics or tracking of any kind — there is no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no PostHog, no session recorder, and no advertising SDK in the extension or the site.

The browser extension

Where it runs

The extension only loads on the streaming services it supports: Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Hotstar, YouTube, Crunchyroll, Hulu, Max and Twitch. It is not present on any other site you visit. On those sites it drives the page’s existing video player — play, pause and seek — so that your party stays together.

Why it asks for each permission

  • Access to those streaming sites — to find the video element on the page, keep it in step with the party, and draw the chat panel beside it.
  • Storage — to remember your display name, chat panel layout and width, and a random identifier that lets your own messages still show as yours after you reconnect. This stays on your device.
  • Cookies — used for one thing only: clearing your own Fort sign-in cookie when you choose Sign out. The extension never reads cookies belonging to a streaming service or any other website.
  • Active tab — to act on the tab you are watching in when you open Fort from the toolbar.

Limited use. Data Fort receives from these permissions is used only to provide and improve the watch-party features described here. It is never sold, never transferred to anyone except the service providers below, never used for advertising or profiling, and never read by a human except where you ask us for support or the law requires it.

Who else is involved

Fort relies on a small number of providers, each handling only what their job needs: hosting for the website and party servers, a database for accounts, an email provider to deliver sign-in codes, a GIF provider for the picker, and a payment provider if you subscribe — payment card details go directly to the payment provider and are never seen or stored by Fort. Animated emoji images are loaded from Google’s font servers. Fort does not sell personal data.

How long things are kept

Account details are kept while your account exists, and removed when you ask us to delete it. Sign-in sessions expire after seven days, and sign-in codes after ten minutes. Party chat lives in the room while the party exists and is capped at the most recent messages; it is not archived into your account or used for anything after the party. Extension settings stay on your device until you remove the extension or clear its storage.

Your choices

  • See or correct your details — your name is editable wherever you start a party.
  • Delete your account and its data — email support@fortparty.app and we will action it.
  • Sign out everywhere — use Sign out in the extension or on the site; this clears the session cookie.
  • Remove local data — uninstalling the extension removes everything it stored on your device.

Depending on where you live you may also have rights to access, correct, export, or object to our handling of your data. Write to support@fortparty.app and we will respond.

Children

Fort is not directed at children, and accounts are intended for adults who can agree to our terms and hold their own streaming subscriptions.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and, where the change affects how your data is handled, tell account holders by email.
